  n/a n/a 2017 Summer Reading Programs for All Ages  

This summer, make time to read the books you love and win prizes just for reading!  Read books of your choice (including eBooks and audiobooks), and attend fun programs. Get ready for Reading by Design!  2017 Summer Reading Program Information Brochure (Printable PDF)

For Children

  •     For children birth through those entering grade 6 – both readers and listeners.
  •     Each time you read at least 15 minutes, mark your reading log.
  •     Bring your completed log to the Library to receive a free book plus coupons for local businesses.
  •     For each additional log you complete, you will receive another free book!
  •     Parents and caregivers who read to a child registered in the program receive a free book.

For Teens

  •     For teens who have completed grades 6 through 12.
  •     Select books of your choice and keep track of the number of pages read.
  •     Every time you read 1,000 pages, come to the Library to pick out a free book from our selection of new books.
  •     Reading also enters you in a weekly raffle to win a complete book series.

For Adults

  •     For adults who love to read. Why let kids have all the fun?
  •     Read books of your choice and record your reading progress.
  •     After you read 4 books, stop by the Library to select a free book from our selection of popular books.
  •     Keep reading!  For each additional four books you complete, you will receive another free book!

The Summer Reading Program is generously supported by the Friends of The Urbana Free Library.

 
  10:00AM n/a Ride for Rueger  

Sign up is at 10:00 am in the rural king Parking lot in Rantoul illinois. Ride leaves at noon we stop in Gifford Rankin Paxton Gibson city and Fisher. The Ride ends at Tnt in Rantoul where there is live entertainment a silent auction and 5050 raffle a spaghetti dinner will be provided. This ride is to benefit the family of Rueger Alan Hudson who passed away unexpectedly in his sleep April 20th 2017 at the age of 18 months old. His cause of death was pnemonia. He leaves behind a twin brother. The proceeds will go to funeral expenses and a memorial stone in his name. This ride is for motorcycles and cars. 15.00 a person or 20.00 a couple.

Orpheum Children's Archaeology Day

OVERVIEW. We will have family-friendly activities all afternoon, such as ceramics, artifact reconstruction, practicing archaeology skills, using ancient tools, and much more.
 
 
ADMISSIONS. $5 (FREE for Orpheum Members).

LOCATION. The event will be held in our courtyard pending good weather, or in the our historic theatre if rainy.
 
  7:00PM 8:00PM Science for All: Dr. Timothy Pauketat  

Join us for the Orpheum's first speaker in our "Science for All"  series for adults and parents. Come and listen to a talk by Dr. Timothy Pauketat titled: "New Discoveries of Ancient Religion at Cahokia." We'll give your kids free reign in the museum while you enjoy the talk, refreshments, and a Q&A session after the talk.
